Recently we were sent a Kobelco pump to assess and repair, this particular model in no longer produced so the only option was to rebuild with the available genuine parts. The customer thought this was expensive as when he went to google he could find a complete pump brand new on a Chinese website for about $3,000 including air freight to NZ. We explained that this would be incorrect and at that price it was too good to be true but, if that’s what he would like to do that’s fine. We packaged up his parts and returned them.
Some three weeks later we received a call from the customer, the pump he brought had turned up in four boxes! Could we assemble it for him? He sent the parts in for us to have a look at – to add insult to injury, the parts supplied were the wrong model and most of them couldn’t even be used!
