Hydraulic pump and motor rebuilds — tested to manufacturer specs, shipped nationwide.
Fluid Power Distributors operates a dedicated hydraulic workshop at 205 Ellis Street, Frankton, Hamilton, providing pump, motor and cylinder rebuild services to customers across New Zealand and internationally.
As New Zealand's only authorised Kawasaki Precision Machinery (KPM) service centre, FPD is the factory-aligned option for Kawasaki-equipped machinery, including K3V, K5V, and K7V series pumps.
What we service
Our workshop repairs the full range of hydraulic componentry, from main pumps and motors through to cylinders and valve banks. Every component is stripped and assessed before we provide an accurate quote.
- Hydraulic main pumps — All major brands and models, including genuine Kawasaki (KPM) pumps. Full strip, assess, rebuild, and test bench verification.
- Pilot pumps — Hydraulic control system pilot pumps assessed and rebuilt to specification.
- Gear pumps — Hydraulic gear pumps across a range of industrial and mobile plant applications.
- Swing motors — Excavator slew motors stripped, rebuilt, and tested for full performance restoration.
- Travel motors — Drive and travel motors for tracked and wheeled heavy plant.
- Fan motors — Hydraulic fan motors for heavy plant cooling systems.
- Cylinders — Cylinders resealed, re-metalled, with new rods and head glands where needed.
- Valve banks — Directional control valve banks assessed, repaired, and rebuilt across a range of applications.

Our rebuild process
1. Strip and assess
The component is fully disassembled, cleaned, and inspected. All wear components are checked and measured. We provide an accurate repair estimate before any further work proceeds.
2. Parts sourcing
FPD prefers genuine parts in all rebuilds and holds a large in-house parts inventory to minimise lead times. Our parts team sources any additional components concurrently while the workshop continues on your job — so the two tracks run in parallel, not in sequence.
3. Rebuild
All components are reassembled by trained hydraulic technicians to manufacturer specifications. The rebuild is not signed off until it meets the required standard.
4. Performance testing
Where possible, rebuilt components are run on our in-house test bench and verified against manufacturer performance specifications. Flow rate, pressure, and efficiency are measured and recorded. Test results are documented and provided to the customer alongside the rebuilt component. Components are only dispatched once they meet specification — not simply when they have been reassembled.
5. Packaging and dispatch
Once signed off, all ports are blanked to prevent contamination in transit. The component is packaged for collection or shipping. FPD ships NZ-wide using Mainfreight as the preferred carrier, or your choice of provider. Internationally we ship via DHL, or a carrier of your choosing.
Why use FPD's workshop?
There are plenty of general engineering workshops around New Zealand. FPD is different — we specialise exclusively in hydraulic components, and that specialisation runs through every part of our service.
- Hydraulic specialists, not generalists — Our technicians are trained specifically in hydraulic systems fault diagnosis, circuit analysis, component rebuilding. You're not handing your pump to someone who usually services other things.
- Test bench verification — not just reassembly; Many workshops rebuild and ship. We rebuild and test to spec before dispatch. You receive a component that has been independently verified to perform correctly, not just put back together.
- Parts and service under one roof — Because we're also a major parts distributor, we carry the components needed for most rebuilds in-house. That means faster turnaround times and no waiting on parts from separate suppliers.
- Authorised Kawasaki Precision Machinery (KPM) service centre — FPD is New Zealand's only authorised service centre for Kawasaki Precision Machinery (KPM) mobile plant hydraulics. For operators running Kawasaki-equipped machinery — including K3V, K5V, and K7V series pumps — FPD is the factory-aligned choice for rebuilds, diagnostics, and genuine parts.
